About Our Founder

Senior Grand Master Griffin began his martial arts journey at the age of eight, studying various disciplines including Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kung-Fu, and Tai-Chi over the course of more than five decades. His extensive training and diverse background earned him worldwide recognition as an authentic Master of the Martial Arts.

Senior Grand Master Griffin trained numerous law enforcement agencies and personnel, specializing in hand-to-hand defense and neutralization tactics. He also served as the Massachusetts State Director for the International Police Tactics Association and as a sworn Deputy to the Sheriff of Hampden County. Renowned for his exceptional teaching abilities and the effectiveness of his techniques, he offered certified seminars and workshops tailored to the specific needs of local, state, and federal agencies.

Senior Grand Master Griffin was featured in several prestigious national and international publications, including Inside Kung-Fu Magazine, Budo International Magazine, and Action Martial Arts Magazine. He collaborated with numerous world-renowned martial artists and martial arts celebrities.

A champion in Karate, Judo, and Kung-Fu, Senior Grand Master Griffin was also famous worldwide for his incredible feats of breaking, including his renowned 2,700-pound ice-breaking demonstration.

About Grand Master

Grand Master Russell Correia began his martial arts journey in 1984 and currently holds the rank of Professor, 8th Degree, in both the Kajukenbo Emperado Method and Chinese Kenpo. He is internationally recognized as the sole named successor to Senior Grand Master Griffin's organization and legacy. In 2009, he received the prestigious Successorship Award from Griffin's Judo and Karate, making him the only recipient of this honor. With over thirty years of experience, Grand Master Correia has trained and provided leadership under Senior Grand Master Kalaii Kano Griffin, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to the martial arts.

In 2004, Grand Master Correia founded Red Tiger Kajukenbo Karate Studio, a licensed division of Griffin's Judo & Karate International, and has since become a certified Black Belt instructor in both Chinese Kenpo from the International Kenpo and Kung Fu Association and Kajukenbo from the Kajukenbo Self Defense Institute. With thirty years of teaching experience, he has earned several prestigious recognitions. These include induction into the Kenpo-Jujitsu Black Belt Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Regional Assistant Instructor and the Action Martial Arts Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2002.

 

Grand Master continued to receive accolades through 2011, including awards for Outstanding Achievements in Promoting Martial Arts, the Continuance of Excellence Award for the Preservation of Martial Arts, and Goodwill Ambassador to Martial Arts. Grand Master Correia was also inducted into the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003 and received the Griffin's Judo & Karate Kwan Ming Wah Award in both 2002 and 2004. He is a graduate of Western New England College, class of 1988.
